Good Evening Clippers,

This week is National Gear Up Week.  Our intent is to raise awareness about GEAR UP for our 10th graders and college opportunities for ALL students.  Students can participate in a College Knowledge activity, get information about financial aid and scholarships, and show their support for the week by wearing college gear on Wednesday.  Many of the activities will occur during lunch shifts, so have your student check them out! The following colleges will be visiting JMB in September:
 9-19: Washington College 10:00
Please have your child sign up to visit with these representatives in the guidance office if they're interested in attending to one of these colleges or universities.

After School tutoring will begin next Monday, September 18th.  I have attached the schedule for this in my email. JMB 2017 Tutoring Schedule.docx

PSAT's are scheduled for October 11th, the Wicomico County Board of Education requires that every sophomore get the opportunity to sit and receive a score for the PSAT. The county will cover the cost for every sophomore student.  9th and 11th grade students have the opportunity to take the PSAT at a cost of $15.00.  If you are interested in having your 9th or 11th grade student take the PSAT this school year, please have your student register with Ms. Gentzel in the Cafeteria during 1st or 2nd lunch shifts or in her office located in guidance.  Your student may pay with cash or a check made out to James M. Bennett High School and must register by September 22nd by 2:45.

The Brown Box Theatre Company will be coming to JMB to perform Hamlet for our seniors and part of our junior class.  Thank you to the PTSA for funding this and to Mrs. Cooper for all her hard work setting this event up.

Our next PTA Visitation with teachers will be on Thursday, September 28th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. There will be a senior parent informational meeting held that evening.  More information on this will be sent out on next week's Parentlink.

As we approach the week of the 18th, please continue to remind your student to get to class on time, complete their classwork to the best of their ability, be respectful in their interactions with other students and staff, and carry a positive attitude with them when they come to school.  If we all work together as a family, we can make it a terrific year here at James M. Bennett High School and help each student find individual success.
