  • Girls Soccer power to win over Decatur
    Published: Thu, 21 Sep 2017 07:33:13 -0400

On a balmy late sunny evening in Berlin the Clipper girls stormed to a 5 to 2 victory over fierce rival Decatur. Liv "pick your pocket" Owens was on fire scoring 3 cracking goals in the first 15 minutes and then assisted on Morgan "knock em down" Reilly's goal as JMB led 4 to zero at the half. Decatur scored 2 goals early in the second half and with a raucous home crowd encouraging them threatened to make a game of it. However, led on by Hofmann (1 assist), Perunko (2 assists) and Ryan the Clippers girls got back in stride and added a 5th thru Liv Owens for her fourth goal. Girls Soccer are now 4 and 0 on the season and with performances like that will be a handful for any team they encounter. Kudos to Caroline Scott who was a late replacement for regular goalie Hall and performed admirably in her debut for the Clippers.

Some people say that a solid defense is the key to a successful offense. JMB Varsity field hockey is proving this to be true as the team secured another win yesterday against Kent County to improve to 5 and 0 on the season by a score of 3 to 0. The defense was lead by Seniors, Laney Marsh and Dara Gregory along with Juniors, Kelcie Greene and Klaira Bievenour. Seniors Jenn Ford and McKenna Davies also helped limit Kent County to 4 shots on goal. Kent County's goalie was stellar yet Juniors Juliana Sterling netted 2 goals and 1 assist, Olivia Thomas netted the 3rd goal as Senior Emma Chandler and Junior Lauren Plankey kept pounding the goal to help the offense combine with 22 shots on goal.

The JV field hockey fell to Kent County yesterday by a score of 6 to 1. The team as tested both physically and mentally yet never gave up. They left everything on the field as evidenced by the selfless play by sophomore captains, Claire Bowler and Julia Walters along with sophomore Sara Smith. The lone goal was scored by offensive leader Emma Tomcyzk who scored her 8th goal on the season. The ladies look to get back on track Tuesday against Easton.
