Memorial Garden

The JMB Memorial Garden was designed to help JMB students, faculty and staff to heal after the loss of three Class of 2000 students during the 1999-2000 school year. The garden was designed by Class of 2000 member Jake Day who was a close friend of the three. A dedication ceremony was held on August 19, 2000 and was attended by Frank Perdue, then Mayor Barrie Tilghman and many family members and friends. The garden has three crepe myrtle trees to represent the three students as well as engraved bricks in the walkway that were purchased by family and friends to honor their loved ones.

As design and construction of the new JMB began, great care was taken to ensure that the garden was protected and preserved. To enhance the dignity of the garden, additional walkways and lighting were added and it now is the centerpiece of the entrance to the JMB campus. Today the garden continues to serve as a living memorial to all those students who passed away during their enrollment at JMB, and a place of quiet reflection for current students.
